Named after Albert Bacon Blanton (Colonel Blanton), one of the most dedicated men to the O.F.C./George T. Stagg Distillery, older names of Buffalo Trace Distillery. Blanton’s The Original was first introduced in 1984, which is a very limited Bourbon, handpicked from the very best casks from Warehouse H. The whole building of Warehouse H is clad in metal, which creates a huge temperature change between day and night time, and it is steamed during winter time to keep warm! This maturation style allows the whiskey to cycle within the barrel more often, resulting in a smooth yet complex whiskey.Blanton’s Gold is bottled at a higher strength at 103 proof (51.5%), with plenty of dried fruit aroma, followed by tobacco, spice, caramel and honey. The palate is similar with the aroma and leaves a long finish of vanilla and sweet oakiness.
