Kilchoman Am Burach
We are glad to present you several new bottlings from Kilchoman. Am Bùrach, meaning ‘the mess’ in Gaelic, the name comes from a story behind this unique bottling. An unnamed stillman, accidentally mixed Machir Bay with Port Matured Kilchoman during vatting casks in 2014 - as a result the General Manager described the mixed whisky as ‘Am Bùrach’.
This one-off whisky had a complicated maturation (a combination of bourbon, sherry & port cask matured whisky), then recasked into bourbon barrels for 6 years ahead a 6 month finish in ruby port casks. On the nose it is rich, fruity and sweet, while on palate there are red fruits, creamy sweetness and herbaceous peat smoke, with a long finish of dried fruit and citrus sweetness.
