Chorlton Whisky

The whisky which I picked to bottle, is something I’m excited about and want to drink. Everything else is secondary, but I’d prefer to release “drinkable whisky” rather than anything expensive or rare.’ David Bennett, the founder of Chorlton Whisky told us.

It is never easy to strike a balance among quality of whisky, label design and price, no matter it is an official or independent bottling. However, we discovered that Chorlton Whisky was doing something different. David said, ‘Initially I thought it would be fun to have something unique to share. The ethos now, though, is trying to make single cask whisky a bit more accessible.
An interesting story behind this bottle, it was first matured in a bourbon hogshead, unfortunately the cask was somehow leaking, then this whisky inside was mistakenly decanted into a marsala hogshead for over 6 years, creating this double matured 19-year-old Highland whisky! On the nose, it is like ..
Brand: Dailuaine
Dailuaine, not a very common distillery, like Glen Ord from the same summer release. This Dailuaine 10 Year Old was matured in a First-fill Bourbon Barrel, it is aromatic and refreshing compared to some young Dailuaine we tried. On the nose, it is with green apple, mints and some toffee, a moment la..
Brand: Benriach
Faemussach is actually a peated Benriach, a very unusual one to me, very fruity on the nose with dried mango, orange jelly and honey, surrounded by gentle wood smoke, complex yet harmonious. It comes with an explosive fruitiness on the palate, very significant dried mango, malt, earthy peat, 3 ..
Brand: Teaninich
This Teaninich is more like a cake than whisky to me, on the nose, it is with sweetnesses like peach, cream cake and malted milk biscuits, a very creamy one. With a waxy palate, malty sweetness, orange peel and sweet ginger. It then ends with a fresh and herbal aftertaste...
Brand: Benrinnes
This Benrinnes is finished in a sherry butt for 4 years, but is the relatively elegant one compared with the above two. On the nose you can find the sweet aroma of berries, fresh, floral and honey. The palate has a more significant sherried influence, with dark chocolate, coffee and toffee sweetness..
Brand: Glentauchers
Matured in a bourbon barrel, but with a nice color and complex fruitiness: loads of pineapple, beeswax, tangerines and juice gummy, and later it comes a bit of mintiness. Still waxy and fruity on the palate like apple, lemon juice gummy, and a bit of warmness like ginger and pepper. And of course, a..
Brand: Tullibardine
And a 29-year-old Tullibardine that we believe not a lot of you have tried such a well-aged one from this distillery. You will find banana bread, toasted nuts, vanilla custard and a little sweet wood smoke on the nose. The palate is quite different, starting with leather, rye bread and baking spices..
Brand: Glenrothes
Quite a strong one with 64.4% ABV, matured in a Second-filled Sherry Butt, a classic sherried Glenrothes that is nutty, creamy and fruity, and David mentioned that diluting with water will make it like a different whisky! With apple pie, cakes, dried figs, raisin, caramel, malted milk and walnut on ..

Staoisha is the name of peated single malt from Bunnahabhain, with strong smokness & ashiness, barbecue smoke and aromas like vanilla, lightly fruity and banana bread. The peat and smoke goes even stronger on the palate, but with distinct sweetness, saltiness and a creamy mouthfeel. With a warm ..
