Built in 1897 by the Strathspey Distillery Co Ltd. Its original name 'Strathspey' was changed to 'Dalwhinnie' when it was sold to new owners; the aptly named Dalwhinnie Distillery Co. Located in Inverness-shire (a.k.a. the Strathspey area) in the western Highlands of Scotland. This dram makes a firm and full statement on the nose with its notes of soft wood smoke, homemade toffee’s, floral butterscotch, orange zest, and tarte tatin. On the palate its a strong malty backbone upholds delicate freshly mown grass, damsons, and orange bitters. A medium length grassy freshness on the finished make for a very recommendable malt whisky indeed.
A perfect first dram for those who wish to begin a lifelong love affair with Scotch Whisky…
