Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Small Batch
Reverend Elijah Craig was a Baptist preacher in 1800s Kentucky, later he built the first paper and wool mills, and started to distill spirits. Some said later an accidental fire was broken out in Elijah’s mill, charred the wooden barrels and changed the whiskey inside, Elijah then discovered the whiskey is complex and elegant. This is why he is recognized as the Bourbon pioneer, and the first distiller to age his whiskey in charred oak barrels.
Located in Kentucky, Heaven Hill Distillery preserves the Bourbon making traditions developed by Elijah Craig. Each bottle is crafted with the same method used by Elijah over 200 years ago: local corn and grains are milled and mixed with limestone-rich Kentucky spring water, then fermented, distilled and aged.
This Small Batch is one of the core range products of Elijah Craig. With Burnished copper color, on nose the whiskey is delightfully complex, with notes of vanilla bean, sweet fruit; while on palate it is smooth and warm; pleasantly woody with accents of spice and smoke, the long lingering finish is sweet and slightly toasty.
