Established by Gaiaflow in 2016, Shizuoka Distillery is one of the most talked-about new players in the Japanese whisky scene. Nestled in the forested mountains of Tamagawa in Shizuoka City, the distillery benefits from pristine natural surroundings that offer ideal maturation conditions. A distinctive feature of the distillery is its dual distillation setup: a traditional Karuizawa still acquired from Scotland and a unique wood-fired still custom-designed in Japan, symbolizing a marriage of tradition and innovation.

Shizuoka whiskies highlight a strong commitment to local ingredients and meticulous craftsmanship. The first official release, “Prologue K,” gained attention for its soft fruity tones and balanced peat smoke. Later, “Contact S” combined spirits from both stills to create a complex yet elegant profile.
