Sakurao

Sakurao Distillery was established by Chugoku Jozo Co., Ltd., a Hiroshima-based company with over a century of history. Located in Hatsukaichi City, facing the Seto Inland Sea, the distillery benefits from a warm and humid climate ideal for whisky maturation. Operational since 2017, it focuses on producing authentic Japanese whisky using local ingredients and small-batch processes under strict quality control. With a visitor center on-site, Sakurao Distillery is also a rising destination for whisky tourism in western Japan.

The distillery's offerings are divided into two main lines. The “Sakurao” range includes blended whiskies and gins with vibrant fruity and spicy notes, while the “Togouchi” brand features blended whiskies matured in a repurposed railway tunnel, imparting a uniquely smooth and mellow character. By balancing local craftsmanship with global appeal, Sakurao is emerging as a distinctive and expanding name on the international whisky stage.
