Mars Tsunuki

Mars Tsunuki Distillery is located in the mountainous basin of southern Kagoshima, the birthplace of Hombo Shuzo with over a century of distilling heritage. The area’s hot summers and surprisingly cold winters create ideal conditions for rapid whisky maturation, producing bold and complex flavors. The distillery draws its soft water from a tributary of the Manose River, adding finesse to its whisky profile.

Since opening in 2016, Mars Tsunuki has focused on crafting robust single malt whiskies, often matured in sherry and bourbon casks. These expressions typically offer notes of spice, dried fruit, and caramel. With its unique southern terroir and precise craftsmanship, Tsunuki has become a key figure in Japan’s southern whisky scene.
