Kilchoman

Kilchoman is one of the youngest traditional distilleries on Islay, founded in 2005 by Anthony Wills. It marked a revival in distillery building on the island after decades of stagnation. Kilchoman is renowned for its “from barley to bottle” philosophy, overseeing every stage of production in-house—from growing its own barley and floor malting to distillation, maturation, and bottling—making it one of Scotland’s leading farm distilleries.

Despite its youth, Kilchoman captures the essence of Islay with medium to heavily peated profiles balanced by lively fruit and vanilla sweetness. Flagship expressions like Machir Bay and Sanaig highlight the influence of bourbon and sherry casks respectively, while vintage releases such as the 100% Islay series underscore its island-grown commitment. With a modern approach to tradition, Kilchoman has quickly earned a loyal following among a new generation of peated whisky lovers worldwide.
