Auchentoshan
Auchentoshan is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that practices exclusive triple distillation. Located in the Lowlands, this technique yields a new-make spirit at around 81% ABV, known for its citrusy brightness and cereal undertone. The short fermentation process gives its whisky a clean and grainy base, which helps balance the cask influence during maturation.
Due to its high-strength spirit, Auchentoshan expressions can be easily overwhelmed by wood, making older bottlings notably softer and more rounded. Notable releases like the Three Wood and Virgin Oak exemplify its signature light-bodied, fruit-driven profile—ideal for those who enjoy elegant and approachable single malts.
