Girvan
Built in 1963 by William Grant & Sons, Girvan was a strategic response to grain supply disputes with DCL. Rapidly constructed and operational within nine months, the distillery originally used Coffey stills and later transitioned to a modern multi-column vacuum distillation setup in 1995. Girvan’s output mainly supplies Grant’s and Clan MacGregor blends, and has been bottled as single grain under the Black Barrel and Girvan Patent Still labels.
In addition to whisky, the site houses the Hendrick’s gin plant and Ailsa Bay malt distillery. This complex embodies the Grant family’s tradition of independence and innovation, reinforcing their position in the global whisky industry.
