Mars Komagatake

Mars is a Japanese whisky brand established by Hombo Shuzo, operating the Mars Komagatake Distillery, formerly known as Mars Shinshu Distillery, located in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture. Originally opened in 1985, the distillery was mothballed in 1992 due to low domestic demand. As global interest in Japanese whisky surged, Mars resumed production in 2011, marking a pivotal revival that brought new life to the brand.

Situated at high altitude, the Mars Komagatake Distillery benefits from a cool and stable climate, allowing for slow and refined maturation. Popular expressions like the Komagatake series showcase a balance of fruit, vanilla, and gentle oak, reflecting a delicate, elegant style. Mars also operates the southern Mars Tsunuki Distillery and uses different maturation locations, embracing the potential of multi-terroir aging and standing as a key symbol of diversity in Japanese whisky.
