The official festive bottling of Chorlton Whisky finally arrives! David told us this 18YO Bunnahabhain is the last official festive special in 2020 - the nose starts with sea air and mandarin, before richer notes of buttery brioche, praline and milk chocolate covered raisins appear, along with a touch of smokiness. On the palate it starts with red apple and pink grapefruit. Notes of toasted nuts, honey, chocolate bars and cinnamon pastries developed later on. Slight smokiness and orange marmalade in the aftertaste.

Bunnahabhain

Bunnahabhain, located in the northern part of Islay, stands out for its unpeated style among the island’s typically smoky distilleries. The whisky which I picked to bottle, is something I’m excited about and want to drink. Everything else is secondary, but I’d prefer to release “drinkable whisky” rather than anything expensive or rare.’ David Bennett, the founder of Chorlton Whisky told us.

It is never easy to strike a balance among quality of whisky, label design and price, no matter it is an official or independent bottling. However, we discovered that Chorlton Whisky was doing something different. David said, ‘Initially I thought it would be fun to have something unique to share. The ethos now, though, is trying to make single cask whisky a bit more accessible.
