Daftmill

Daftmill is located in Scotland’s Lowlands and is a family-run distillery operated by farmer Francis Cuthbert, renowned as a “farm distillery.” Production began in 2005, using barley grown entirely on its own farmland, with distillation scheduled around the farming calendar and carried out mainly during off-season periods. This small-scale, seasonal production makes its whiskies extremely rare and gives them a distinctive cereal sweetness and fresh character. Its debut releases immediately drew attention for their scarcity and quality.

For maturation, Daftmill primarily employs Bourbon casks and Sherry casks, preserving the spirit’s delicate and pure foundation while adding layers of vanilla, honey, and gentle fruit notes. This balanced style, combined with long, natural aging, highlights the elegance and refinement typical of the Lowlands. With its self-sufficient farming model and unwavering focus on quality, Daftmill has earned its place as one of Scotland’s rare and highly sought-after boutique distilleries.
