Glen Keith

Built in 1960, Glen Keith is one of the few modern distilleries in Speyside. Initially owned by Seagram, it served as a site for experimenting with new still designs and yeast strains. It produced a range of spirit styles and eventually became a vital source for Chivas Brothers’ blended whiskies. After being mothballed in 1999, the distillery was restored and restarted in 2013 by Pernod Ricard, continuing its innovative spirit.

Today, Glen Keith specializes in producing light, fruity whiskies with smooth, clean profiles and subtle grassy and vanilla notes. It plays a key role in blends like Chivas Regal. While single malt releases remain limited, recent official bottlings like the Glen Keith Distillery Edition have begun to showcase the distillery’s unique character. Glen Keith is both a practical and promising name within Speyside.

Douglas Laing

Douglas Laing is a renowned independent bottler from Scotland, founded in 1948 by Fred Douglas Laing. Now run by his son Fred Laing and granddaughter Cara Laing, the company is best known for the “Remarkable Regional Malts” series—including Big Peat, Scallywag, Timorous Beastie, Rock Island, and The Epicurean—that capture the character of different Scotch whisky regions. In addition to blended malts, they also offer single cask ranges such as Old Particular, XOP (Xtra Old Particular), and Premier Barrel, all bottled without chill filtration or added coloring to preserve the whisky’s original character.

Douglas Laing takes pride in its careful cask selection and natural presentation philosophy. In 2019, the company took a bold step by establishing The Clutha Distillery in Glasgow, marking its evolution from independent bottler to full-scale producer. Spanning three generations, Douglas Laing is celebrated for its deep cask inventory and commitment to quality, earning a loyal following among whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
