Strathclyde

Strathclyde is a grain whisky distillery located in the heart of Glasgow, operational since 1927. It utilizes Coffey Stills (continuous stills) to produce high volumes of grain spirit, making it one of Scotland’s most essential sources of grain whisky. The distillery is managed by Chivas Brothers and primarily supplies spirit for blended whiskies like Ballantine’s.

While Strathclyde does not offer official bottlings, its spirit is occasionally released as single grain whisky by independent bottlers such as Signatory and Duncan Taylor. These limited casks typically reveal gentle notes of vanilla, toffee, and light grain sweetness. Though often under the radar, Strathclyde remains a vital player in Scotland’s whisky industry.
