Eagle Rare 12 Year Old

First introduced in mid-2025, the Eagle Rare 12 Year Old is bottled at 95 Proof (47.5% ABV)—a 2.5% increase over the standard 10YO, both are using Buffalo Trace’s Mash Bill #1. This release was made possible by the distillery's $1.2 billion expansion project initiated about a decade ago. With larger warehouses, it allows Buffalo Trace to release this 12YO while not reducing the production volume of Eagle Rare 10YO.

Although it has joined the lineup as a permanent addition, it is released in small batches, and demand continues to far outpace supply. Currently, the market price in the U.S. remains high, often exceeding HKD$2,000.

According to Breaking Bourbon, the nose of this 12-year-old expression features notes of caramel, chestnut, brown sugar, and cocoa powder, which gradually give way to aromas of orange peel, citrus, and toasted marshmallow—balancing sweetness with a toasted oak character. The palate is dominated by brown sugar sweetness with a warming, mouth-coating viscosity that provides a rich mouthfeel, followed by layers of toffee, vanilla, and black cherry. The medium-length finish lingers with notes of vanilla, caramel, spices, and grains, with a subtle, aged oak astringency.
