This 40-year-old single cask whisky was distilled on March 2, 1972, matured in an Oloroso Sherry Butt, and bottled in October 2012 at 49% ABV, with only 356 bottles released. It forms part of GlenDronach’s Batch 7 series.

The nose is delicate yet expressive, with notes of rose, passion fruit ganache, raspberry jam, and leather, alongside subtle hints of gunpowder and mint. On the palate, it opens with rich flavours of Christmas cake, dates, and raisins, followed by tropical accents of tangerine, guava, and chocolate licorice. The mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with a long finish combining fruit, spice, and a touch of leather.

GlenDronach

Established in 1826, Glendronach is one of the few Highland distilleries that continues to embrace a traditional production style. Its equipment includes wooden washbacks and uniquely shaped stills, creating a heavy-bodied spirit with strong character. The distillery is best known for its extensive use of Sherry casks, with some expressions matured entirely in ex-Sherry wood, delivering rich layers of dried fruit, spice, and chocolate.

Following several changes in ownership, Glendronach was acquired by the BenRiach Distilling Co. in 2008 and relaunched with a core range of 12-, 15-, and 18-year-old whiskies, followed by numerous limited cask-strength releases.
