Kavalan 15 Year Old 2009 15th Anniversary Ex-Bourbon Single Cask Strength

In 2024, Kavalan launched its "15th Anniversary" commemorative release, selecting ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks filled in 2009 for two separate expressions. At the time, these were the oldest whiskies ever released by the distillery. The year 2009 also marked the first introduction of these two cask types to Kavalan's Solist series, adding further significance to this anniversary release. The ex-Bourbon edition was limited to just 5,000 bottles worldwide.

Fully matured for 15 years in an American ex-Bourbon cask, this expression was bottled as a Single Cask Strength whisky. The distillery adopted a distinctive green gradient bottle design, reflecting the transformation from new make spirit to matured whisky. The presentation set also includes a specially designed tasting glass and coaster, distinguishing it from the regular Solist packaging.

Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromas of honey, syrup and roasted almonds, accompanied by stone fruits, vanilla and buttery notes. Subtle aromas of malt and toasted bread follow, with a hint of floral fragrance reminiscent of rose essential oil.
Palate: Silky smooth, reminiscent of almond tofu, with rich tropical fruit notes, vanilla ice cream and buttery cake.
Finish: A restrained, sweet woody note lingers.
