山崎 Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak The Kogei Collection

Since the 1990s, Suntory has been discovering the combination of peated malt and Spanish oak. For the first time, under the leadership of the 5th generation Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo, this combination has been introduced in the Yamazaki Whisky as part of the Kogei (工芸) series. The label was designed using Bokashi-zome (ぼかし染め), a traditional dyeing technique for kimonos, in collaboration with the Kimono House, Chiso.

The aroma features notes of chocolate cake, mocha coffee, toffee, and a gentle smokiness. On the palate, it delivers a bittersweet dark chocolate flavor with a more prominent peatiness compared to the nose, the mouth feel is smooth and oily. The finish is medium-long, with notes of caramel, spices, and dark chocolate, with a lingering but gentle smokiness.
