宮城峽 Miyagikyo 10 Year Old with Gift Box

Following the successful "return" of Yoichi 10 Year Old a few years ago, Nikka has proudly reintroduced the Miyagikyo 10 Year Old this year. Back in 2015, the group announced the discontinuation of age-statement whiskies from both distilleries (including the blended malt "Taketsuru"). Since then, both distilleries have focused on non-age statement (NAS) releases and various special editions. With the exciting arrival of this new Miyagikyo 10 Year Old, we can certainly look forward to seeing more age-statement bottlings in the future.

On the nose, this Miyagikyo 10 Year Old first introduces hints of spice and oakiness, which slowly open up to reveal tropical fruit aromas like pineapple and mango. It is definitely worth taking your time to appreciate these delicate changes in the glass. On the palate, the fruity sweetness is quite prominent, transitioning smoothly into notes of vanilla and pleasant spices. The finish offers a beautifully balanced sweetness and oaky character — clean, elegant, and never too heavy. This gentle style is perfectly showcased thanks to Miyagikyo's heating methods, specific still designs, and proportion of different casks, which distinctively set it apart from Yoichi.

The new packaging and label design feature a green color palette. This beautifully echoes the lush natural surroundings of the Miyagikyo distillery and marks an exciting new chapter for both the distillery and the Nikka Group.
