Jura

Situated on a remote island, Jura’s current distillery was rebuilt in the 1960s, though the original dates back to 1810. With stills towering at 7.7 meters and a capacity of 2.2 million liters, Jura was designed to produce light, unpeated whisky aligned with blending needs of the time. Peated malt was introduced in the late 1990s, and by 2018, a new core range featured subtle smoky character.

Despite its isolated location, Jura’s tall stills and short fermentation yield a structured spirit that benefits from time and cask influence. This style, often matured in active woods like Sherry casks, delivers complexity and strong aging potential.

Chorlton Whisky

The whisky which I picked to bottle, is something I’m excited about and want to drink. Everything else is secondary, but I’d prefer to release “drinkable whisky” rather than anything expensive or rare.’ David Bennett, the founder of Chorlton Whisky told us.

It is never easy to strike a balance among quality of whisky, label design and price, no matter it is an official or independent bottling. However, we discovered that Chorlton Whisky was doing something different. David said, ‘Initially I thought it would be fun to have something unique to share. The ethos now, though, is trying to make single cask whisky a bit more accessible.
