Laphroaig 14 Year Old Willem Dafoe Limited Edition

Veteran actor Willem Dafoe became a "Friend of Laphroaig" last year, and this May finally marks the official release of their first collaboration － "Willem by Willem." This 14-year-old release is like an improvised performance ("No notes"), Laphroaig set no boundaries or technical frameworks for Willem; instead, with the help of Senior Whisky Blender Sarah Dowling, he simply selected the whisky which resonated with him the most.

Finished in Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at a robust 53.7%. On the nose, it opens with Laphroaig’s signature peat, then a captivating aroma reminiscent of a seaside barbecue accompanied by a touch of dried fruits. As it breathes, the aroma grows increasingly sweet. The palate is beautifully balanced and comforting; you can taste the classic Laphroaig peat intertwined with the sweetness imparted by the sherry casks, before pleasant oak notes emerge towards the end. The long lingering finish is driven by sherry and peat, remaining clean without feeling heavy. Overall, "Willem by Willem" is not a young, explosive Laphroaig, but an expression that pursues perfect balance － a well-rounded, comfortable, and highly enjoyable dram.
