Glen Elgin

Glen Elgin is located in the village of Fogwatt in Speyside and was founded in 1898. Despite facing early financial setbacks and temporary closure, the distillery ultimately found stability and became a key component in the White Horse blended whisky. Often flying under the radar, it has gained appreciation from whisky insiders and was even featured in Diageo’s Hidden Malts range in the early 2000s, reinforcing its reputation as a “hidden gem.”

The distillery follows traditional methods, using clear wort, an extended fermentation of around 90 hours, and slow distillation. It also employs worm tub condensers, resulting in a spirit with rich fruitiness and a smooth, oily texture. These qualities not only make Glen Elgin valuable in blends but also shine in its single malt expressions, offering elegant complexity ideal for fans of classic Speyside styles.
