The Whisky Exchange - Speyside (Macallan) 15 Year Old 2009 The Zodiac Series Scorpio Cask 2

In 2026, The Whisky Exchange introduced The Zodiac Series, a collection of whiskies selected to reflect the distinctive characteristics of the twelve zodiac signs. Representing Scorpio, this expression features a Speyside Single Malt distilled in 2009, with its rich Sherry cask character reflecting the determination and passion associated with the sign.

The whisky comes from a renowned distillery near Craigellachie, known for its long tradition of Sherry cask maturation. Although The Whisky Exchange has not officially disclosed the distillery's identity, the bottling is listed under Macallan on its website. This 15-year-old Single Cask was matured in a Refill Sherry Butt and bottled at 53.9% ABV, offering rich flavours of dark fruits, chocolate and warming spices.

Reference Tasting Notes:
Nose: Rich aromas of prunes, dates and dark berry jam, accompanied by honey, candied orange peel, tobacco leaves, walnuts and nutmeg.
Palate: Dark molasses, roasted nuts, dates and plum jam, followed by maraschino cherries, redcurrants, leather, tobacco leaves and dark chocolate.
Finish: Exceptionally long, with sweet herbal notes, hints of vermouth and lingering chocolate flavours.
