Invergordon
Invergordon is a rare single grain distillery located in the northeast Highlands of Scotland, commencing operations in 1961. It uses a Coffey still (continuous still) system for efficient distillation, producing up to 36 million litres annually — a key component in Whyte & Mackay’s blended whiskies. It once released its own single grain expression, The Invergordon, which is now discontinued but remains a collector’s item.
Originally owned by Invergordon Distillers, the distillery became part of Whyte & Mackay in 1993 and is now under Emperador Distillers. Situated near a former naval base and port, Invergordon stands out as a Highland grain distillery and reflects the industrial expansion of the Scotch whisky industry.
