Ardnamurchan

Located at the westernmost tip of mainland Scotland, Ardnamurchan was built in 2014 by independent bottler Adelphi with sustainability at its heart. The distillery runs entirely on renewable energy—hydroelectric power from a nearby river and a biomass boiler fueled by local wood chips. Even production byproducts such as draff and pot ale are repurposed as livestock feed and fertilizer, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility.

Ardnamurchan produces up to 450,000 liters of spirit annually using Concerto barley with a peating level of 30ppm, processed in a semi-lauter mash tun. With fermentation lasting 72 to 120 hours and traditional-shaped stills employed, the distillery crafts complex and aromatic whisky. From the beginning, both peated and unpeated styles have been produced, all made from estate-grown barley, showcasing a distinct sense of terroir.
