Produced by Suntory at the Hakushu Distillery in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, Hakushu 12 YO is renowned for its fresh and elegant flavor profile, complemented by a subtle smokiness. The Hakushu Distillery uses clear underground water, which is soft and enriched with an ideal balance of minerals. Using traditional wooden washbacks and harnessing the natural environment of the distillery for fermentation, it creates a flavor unique to Hakushu. Production was paused for several years starting in 2018 but it is now reintroduced to the market.

The aroma features herbal notes such as basil and pine needles, accompanied by fruity scents of green apple and pear, with hints of nuttiness and oak. On the palate, it is smooth, offering fruit-forward notes of pear and lemon, along with a refreshing touch of mint-like coolness. The finish brings a sweet citrus note paired with a delicate smokiness.
