Using heavily peated malt at 35ppm, Ledaig combines light fermentation and condenser designs to create an island-style whisky defined by smoke and sea salt. Maturation typically in Bourbon casks emphasizes its crisp smoky character and citrus notes.

Though not always a flagship offering, Ledaig gained prominence with the rise of single malt demand. Expressions like Ledaig 10 Year Old and various single cask releases appeal to peat lovers seeking a gentler, rounded alternative to Islay, while preserving maritime complexity.
