Elijah Craig, a Baptist preacher and pioneer in the 18th century, is credited with being the first to age whiskey in charred oak barrels after a fortuitous fire at his mill. Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky continues his legacy, crafting each bottle of Elijah Craig Bourbon using his original methods—combining local corn and grains with limestone-rich Kentucky spring water for fermentation, then distilled and aged.

Using “Elijah Craig Small Batch” as the base, the whiskey is double matured in custom toasted new oak barrels designed with Independent Stave Company. The toasted barrels bring forward dark sugar flavors within the wood to create a balance of smokiness and sweetness. Resulting in a sweeter, spicier, less oaky, and slightly more complex flavour.
