This “cat” released by Douglas Laing is, surprisingly, not simple. A closer look reveals that the cask number, ABV, distillation and bottling dates, outturn, and even the official tasting note are the same as the bottle released by the famous French spirits merchant LMdW, and it also carries the name of XOP Black, the high-quality series.

The difference is that the signature field has been changed from LMdW's "Collection New Vibrations" to the signatures of Cara Laing and Fred Laing. And, the price is also more affordable! If you are interested in well-aged “cats” or high-quality bourbon casks, seize your opportunity!

Nose: Rich vanilla’d fudge, waxy red apples and delicate malted barley
Palate: Buttery pastry, smothered in strawberry jam, mingles with gentle allspice and fresh lemon zest
Finish: Long and layered, with honey drizzled autumnal fruit, shifting to a peppery, dry liquorice
